Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Droopy, puffy eyelids can make you appear tired or older than you are. Cosmetic eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, can restore the skin around your eyes to its natural, youthful appearance and drastically reduce the visible signs of aging. In some cases, it can even improve vision that is impaired by sagging lids. Blepharoplasty begins with an incision made along the eyelid. Excess fat, muscle, and skin are then trimmed away from the eyelid. This day surgery procedure, which typically takes one hour, is performed under anesthesia and is considered to be permanent in many cases (although it will not prevent natural aging). Following surgery, side effects such as dry eyes, swelling, bruising, and sensitivity to light may occur, but will resolve within 10 days.
